For my Dad who died on 12 November 1999

I see your lovely smiling face and hear you softly call my name
And feel the comfort of you near and everything is just the same
The old house where we used to live and where our lives were carefree and content
The fun would all revolve around you
Oh where are you now Paddy Vincent
Where are you now Paddy Vincent.

You told us stories that our ears were far too innocent to hear
Of wailing banshees and devil’s tales till our hearts were filled with fear
Then you’d get out the button box and start to play us all a tune
Then another, then some more and the night would end too soon
Where are you now Paddy Vincent
Those were the days Paddy Vincent

Please think of me whilst on your journey just as I often think of you
The realisation is crystal clear of things I couldn’t once see through
You never know just what you’ve got until it turns to go
But oh I wouldn’t change a thing you were so good to know.
Where are you now Paddy Vincent
You’re one of a kind Paddy Vincent

Each of your four daughters and your son are just like you
But we all got a special gift so we’d all be different too
You gave us roots and then some wings and we took off and flew away
But we never really left you because inside us you’ll stay
Where are you now Paddy Vincent
We know where you are Paddy Vincent
We know where you are Paddy Vincent
