During a tour of Ontario with a Scottish orchestra in 1998, we stayed at Niagara, in a hotel within sight of the falls.  Most of us took a trip on the Maid of the Mist taking us close to the falls.  It truly was awesome and the little postcard I was given proudly proclaimed there was ‘magic in the mist’.

When I want to wish upon a star to make my dreams come true
I take my mind far far away to a lacy white horseshoe
A strange inspiring mood takes hold and doubts fly from my mind
Surrounded by the mist my cares are banished far behind

Then the boat leaves from the quayside and follows the line of the shore
The water falls like a bridal veil and lands with a thunderous roar
Twelve thousand years since it began but every day it’s new
There’s magic in the mist to make your dreams come true

As the sun spills from the heavens upon the waterfall
A million droplets fill the air amidst the deafening call
They catch suns rays as they dance and play tricks with the light
To form a lovely rainbow an eternal arch so bright

Though time is travelling ever on the mist remains the same
It’s touched the lives of many men time and time again
The ghosts who stalk the mists of time await their fateful cue
And weave their magic in the mist to make your dreams come true

Then the boat leaves from the quayside and follows the line of the shore
The water falls like a bridal veil and lands with a thunderous roar
Twelve thousand years since it began but every day it’s new
There’s magic in the mist to make your dreams come true
